2008年4月的北京-魏青吉这个有前途的年轻艺术家在红门画廊举办第一个展览。展示他的创新并有独特风格的作品。


　　展览展示的作品是通过传统的媒介-纸上水墨寻找表达的一种新语言，使用一种可塑性的媒介去探索有潜力的当代思想。


　　魏青吉对传统的力量很感兴趣，去保持记忆的连贯性和保持文化的生命力。


　　他把他的绘画看做是被个人经历视为一个开放的空间可以和我们所有人有联系-个人的热情，潜意识、历史痕迹、宗教的神秘性、性欲和诱惑。在这个暧昧和含糊不清的论述中包含着魔法和阴谋。


　　这个展览于2008年4月5日至5月5日在红门画廊东便门角楼展出。



Wei Qingi – first solo exhibition in Beijing


BEIJING, April 2008 – In a first for Red Gate Gallery, the promising young artist, Wei Qingji, is showing his innovative and unique style of works in a solo exhibition.
The exhibition features works which seek to create a new language of expression through traditional media - ink and wash on paper – employing the plasticity of the medium to explore its potential as a vehicle for contemporary ideas.
Wei Qingji is interested in the power of tradition to keep memories coherent and maintain the vitality of a culture.


He sees his drawings as an open space haunted by personal experiences to which all of us can relate – personal passions, the sub-conscious, historical marks, religious mystery, and sexuality and temptation. It is the very vagueness and ambiguity of the discourse that contains its charm and intrigue.


The exhibition opens at the Red Gate Gallery, Dongbianmen Watchtower, on 5 April and shows until 4 May 2008.
